Dodgeball coach to be charged with sexually assaulting his student

PETALING JAYA: A dodgeball coach implicated in the sexual assault of his student will be charged on Friday (Oct 6).

He will be brought to the Petaling Jaya magistrate court at 9am and will be charged under Section 509 of the Penal Code (intent to insult a woman's modesty) and Section 14 (a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, for physical sexual assault on a child.

Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid confirmed the matter when contacted.

Previously the matter was brought to light after Malaysian Association of Dodgeball president Datuk V. Radhakrishnan said that the victim was a primary school pupil and that the association had received a complaint from the school’s Parent-Teacher Association Co-Curriculum Bureau, with Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh saying in July that a probe was also being conducted by the Education Ministry.
