High Court acquits five charged with 2017 murder of T. Nhaveen


GEORGE TOWN : The High Court here has acquitted and discharged five people who were charged with the murder of teenager T. Nhaveen in 2017.

S. Gopinath, 32; J. Ragesuthan,24; S. Gokulan,24; V.Sharmah, 24; and K. Tatisan, 24; had been accused of murdering the then 18-year-old Nhaveen between 11pm and midnight on June 9, 2017, near a learning centre in Jalan Kaki Bukit, Bukit Gelugor.

They were also charged with committing a grievous assault on Nhaveen’s then-19-year-old friend T. Previin near the Karpal Singh Learning Centre in Bukit Gelugor on the same night.

Nhaveen had been beaten up by five youths while buying burgers in Jalan Kaki Bukit, Bukit Gelugor.

Previin escaped, while Nhaveen was later found unconscious in a field with serious injuries including burns on his back and signs that a blunt object had been shoved into his anus.
