Five cops arrested for allegedly abducting victim from KL restaurant


KUALA LUMPUR: Five cops and a civilian have been arrested for allegedly abducting a victim from a restaurant here.

In a statement on Friday (Sept 29), Cheras OCPD Asst Comm Zam Halim Jamaluddin said the victim filed a report on the incident on Sept 26, stating that he was taken against his will by a group of men when he was at a restaurant in Desa Petaling.

"Based on the information gathered, a police team from the Cheras police headquarters arrested six suspects aged between 27 and 42 years old," he said, adding that the sixth suspect is a civilian.

The arrests were made on Sept 27 at the Cheras police headquarters.

ACP Zam Halim said that the motive behind the abduction was still being investigated.

"A detailed investigation is ongoing, and the completed investigation paper will be forwarded to the Deputy Public Prosecutor for further action," he said.
