PORT KLANG: Fire razed several structures and a few boats in Pulau Ketam near here which threw the island into panic earlier Friday (Sept 29).

According to John Cha, who manages a hotel on the island, the fire is suspected to have started just after 11am.

"The fire started at the back section of the island and we have yet to know what caused it," said Cha.

The fire was put out at about 1.30pm but only after some serious devastation.

According to an officer from the Pulau Ketam police station, although the fire is said to have started after 11am, the station received notification of the incident at 12.40pm.

"From what we know so far a fish storage warehouse, which is quite a big structure, some boats and a couple of houses have been destroyed," said the policeman.
