PN unanimously chooses Azmin for Selangor Opposition chief

SHAH ALAM: Selangor Perikatan Nasional has unanimously selected Hulu Kelang assemblyman Datuk Seri Azmin Ali as the state's Opposition chief.

Speaker Lau Weng San, who announced the appointment on Tuesday (Sept 19), said Perikatan had sent a letter to the House on Sept 15 informing it of the decision.

With the appointment, Azmin, a former Selangor mentri besar, will lead the state legislative assembly's bloc of 22 Perikatan elected representatives.

Out of the 22 Opposition assemblymen, 12 are from Azmin's party Bersatu while 10 come from PAS.

Azmin told a press conference later that the Opposition had formed a shadow exco line-up to ensure checks and balances in the state government.
