Pulai, Simpang Jeram polls: 38 campaign, ceramah permits approved, say police


JOHOR BARU: Police here have approved 38 campaign and ceramah permits for the Pulai parliamentary and Simpang Jeram state by-elections.

Johor police by-election spokesman Supt Ibrahim Mat Som said all political parties are reminded to refrain from causing any provocation and to respect each other.

“As of Monday (Aug 28), we have approved 18 campaign permits and one ceramah permit in Pulai and 15 campaign permits and four ceramah permits in Simpang Jeram,” he said.

“No investigation papers have been opened so far, and we would like to remind all politicians not to touch on the 3Rs (race, religion, and royalty) throughout the campaigning period,” added Supt Ibrahim in a statement on Tuesday (Aug 29).

Supt Ibrahim added that any act such as damaging opponent posters, banners, or flags is considered a violation that can be taken action under Section 427 of the Penal Code for committing mischief.
