Barisan's Rizam among seven new faces to take oath as S'gor exco members

KLANG: Ten assemblymen took their oath as the Selangor state government's executive councillors on Monday (Aug 21).

They took their oaths and were sworn in before Selangor Ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah at Istana Alam Shah at 2pm.

Seven of the state executive councillors are new faces while three are from the previous Exco.

Earlier in the day, Mentri Besar Datuk Amirudin Shari was sworn in at the same venue.

The headcount in the present line-up, which will assist Amirudin to administrate the state government for the next five years, were four assemblyman from the DAP, three from PKR, two from Amanah and one from Umno.

The PKR exco members were Tanjong Sepat assemblyman Borhan Aman Shah, Kota Anggerik assemblyman Najwan Halimi and Seri Setia assemblyman Dr Fahmi Ngah.

Borhan and Najwan are second-termers whilst it is Dr Fahmi's first term as an elected representative.

Former Speaker Ng Suee Lim, who is five-term Sekinchan assemblyman, as well as Kinrara assemblyman Ng Sze Han, Bandar Utama assemblyman Jamaliah Jamaluddin and Banting assemblyman V. Papparaidu were the DAP's elected representatives sworn into the exco line-up.

Sze Han was also an exco member in the previous state government and had held the local government, public transport and new village development portfolio.

Both Sze Han and Jamaliah are second-term assemblymen whilst Papparaidu is a newbie.

Selangor Amanah chief Izham Hashim and the party's first-term assemblyman Anfaal Saari, who are the Pandan Indah and Taman Templer assemblymen, respectively, were also sworn in as exco members.

Anfaal is the daughter of former three-term Hulu Kelang assemblyman Saari Sungib.

Izham, who is a second-term assemblyman, had held the infrastructure and public amenities, agriculture modernisation and agro-based industry portfolio in the 2018 exco line-up.

The sole exco position reserved for Barisan Nasional went to Sungai Air Tawar assemblyman Datuk Rizam Ismail who also took his oath with his nine counterparts.

Rizam, who is serving a second-term as assemblyman, was the Opposition chief in last term's Selangor Legislative Assembly.

Seven of the ten exco members - DAP's Suee Lin, Jamaliah and Papparaidu, PKR's Najwan Halimi and Dr Fahmi Ngah as well as Anfaal from Amanah and Rizam - are first-timers.
