KUALA LUMPUR: The 14 cops who tested positive for drugs during a raid at an entertainment outlet in Negri Sembilan have been suspended, says Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay (pic).
The Deputy Inspector-General of Police said the group – an officer and 13 personnel – were suspended pending investigation.
“We will also take disciplinary action against the personnel who tested negative (for drugs) as he had flouted the police rules and regulation by partying at the outlet.
“As for the two deputy public prosecutors (DPPs) detained, we will hand them over to the Attorney-General’s Chambers,” he said at the Raudatul Sakinah cemetery yesterday.
The Deputy IGP was there to attend the funeral of Datuk Seri Johari Harun, who was killed in the plane crash in Shah Alam last Thursday.
Ayob Khan said besides the policemen and two DPPs, 103 patrons, including 51 women, were also picked up during the raid at the entertainment outlet in Seremban on Saturday.
Among them were a man from Myanmar, 19 Vietnamese women, 17 Chinese women, nine Thai women and three Indonesian women, he said.
“They tested positive for drugs,” he added.
Ayob Khan said police would not compromise in taking action against those detained in the raid.
