Exco portfolios' list to be presented to Sultan of Terengganu on Aug 16, says MB

KUALA TERENGGANU: The list of Terengganu state government executive councillors’ portfolios will be presented to Sultan of Terengganu, Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin, on Wednesday (Aug 16) morning, says newly installed Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar (pic).

Speaking to reporters after the swearing-in ceremony for the Menteri Besar and state executive councillors on Tuesday (Aug 15), he said the existing portfolios are being studied and will be coordinated with agencies at the Federal Government level to ensure there was no overlap.

"After presenting the list to Tuanku, I will hold the first state executive council meeting at 10 am tomorrow.

"Insya-Allah, all the state executive councillors sworn in today will be informed of their portfolios," he said after taking his oath of office for his second term as Menteri Besar, along with 10 assemblymen chosen as state executive councilors in front of Sultan Mizan.

He also advised Perikatan Nasional assemblymen to be open in airing their views, including criticising the state government as there was no opposition representatives elected to the state assembly this term after Perikatan made a clean sweep of the 32 state seats contested.

Ahmad Samsuri said the state government would fine-tune the appointment of community representatives as appointed assemblymen in line with the Terengganu state laws.

He also added that a more comprehensive framework is being drafted, especially to tackle the challenging economic situation, to attract investors to Terengganu.

"In the first term, it seemed like I was driving in first gear, but this time we’ve entered third gear as we need to be quicker in implementing our work at the state level," he said.

He also voiced his belief that the good relations between the state and Federal Governments would continue to be fostered even though Terengganu was now fully under Perikatan’s control.

"I don’t think there’s a problem and the state government will continue having good relations with the Federal Government," he said. - Bernama
