Anwar to meet Chinese Foreign Minister in Penang on Aug 11

BATU KAWAN: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will meet Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Penang on Friday (Aug 11).

"I have a busy schedule, and I told the Minister, but he insisted he wanted to meet me, although I told him I will not be in Putrajaya.

"I will come to Kedah or Penang to meet you, he said, which reflects that countries want to meet us and invest here," said the Prime Minister during his brief visit to Gerai Perda in Simpang Empat on Tuesday (Aug 8).

He said this followed several investments that had poured into the country over the past few months.

Anwar also said the government was serious in reactivating the Penang Bumiputra Development Council to empower the socio-economic aspects of Bumiputras in Penang.

"I have already sanctioned an initial amount of RM200mil towards the agency's efforts.

"This year alone I approved RM200mil to build police quarters with other funding for projects in the pipeline.

"If we have the power, we help and this is what the Madani government is doing," added Anwar.
