Adam Adli accepts debate invitation from Syed Saddiq

MELAKA: PKR Youth chief Adam Adli Abdul Halim has accepted the invitation for an open debate from Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman.

The Deputy Youth and Sports Minister, however, wished that the event be organised only after the state elections involving Kedah, Penang, Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Terengganu and Kelantan on Aug 12.

"I am willing to engage in open dialogue as long as the objective is to help the youth.

"However, I have to evaluate the content of the dialogue, whether it is a platform to pursue political agenda or with constructive engagements meant for the development of youths in the country," he said after opening the Malaysia Global Badminton Championship in Bukit Rambai here on Friday (Aug 4).

Adam Adli, who is also Bukit Katil MP, said agendas should be set for the dialogue.

"This is to prevent the dialogue from being a ground to pursue political means," he added.

On Thursday (Aug 3), Syed Saddiq - who is Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) president - invited Adam Adli for an open dialogue.

Muda said the proposed debate aimed to foster a healthy exchange of ideas, solutions and policies to address the diverse and complex issues affecting young Malaysians.
