JEMPOL: Public facilities for the disabled such as wheelchair ramps and walkways will be the focus of Barisan Nasional's Datuk Mohd Zaidy Abdul Kadir if elected as Jeram Padang assemblyman.
On July 31, Mohd Zaidy broke his left leg in a traffic accident on Jalan Pasir-Besar.
"Now that I'm in this situation, I realise how much difficulty the disabled have moving around, especially in public areas where there are limited lanes for them.
"If I am elected, public facilities (for the disabled) will be my focus," said Mohd Zaidy after attending an event in Kampung Panchor here on Thursday (Aug 3).
Despite his injuries, Mohd Zaidy said the campaign would proceed as usual, albeit at a slower pace.
"It will be at a slower pace and won't be as aggressive as I don't want my situation to worsen.
"My leg is still swollen but it's improving and I'm able to move around in a wheelchair," he added.
Mohd Zaidy will be taking on Perikatan Nasional's Suresh Sreenivasan in a straight fight for the Jeram Padang seat in the Aug 12 state election.
