Cops on the hunt for barber involved in sexual harassment incident in Manjoi


IPOH: The police are looking for an Indian national who is believed to be involved in a sexual harassment incident in Manjoi here, says Asst Comm Yahaya Hassan.

The Ipoh OCPD said the Indian national, who works as a barber at a shop in Manjoi, had allegedly committed the crime on Tuesday (Aug 1) at about 1.25pm.

"The man is believed to have run away after the incident.

"A police report was lodged by a 37-year-old woman on the same day at the Jelapang police station," he said in a statement on Thursday (Aug 3).

"The case will be investigated under Section 509 of the Penal Code and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955.

"Those who have information about the incident are urged to come forward to help with the investigations by contacting senior investigating officer Asst Supt Yap Siew Cheng at 012-909 3362," he added.

ACP Yahaya was responding to a picture of a police report that was posted on Facebook by Siti Hajar Ghazali, which drew public attention.

In the police report, the Indian national was said to have uttered some obscene words towards the woman while cutting her son's hair.
