Biker, 24, killed in crash in Segamat


SEGAMAT: A motorcyclist died on the spot after he was involved in an accident with a car on Jalan Muar-Labis near here on Friday (July 14).

The Johor Fire and Rescue Department operation centre said they received an emergency call on the incident at 8.21am.

Labis Fire station chief Muhammad Hafifie Md Sarif said the incident involved a Yamaha Lagenda motorcycle ridden by the 24-year-old male victim while a Proton Exora was driven by a 21-year-old male.

"The victim was pronounced dead by the medical team from the Health Ministry who arrived at the scene," he said in a statement.

Muhammad Hafifie said the victim’s body was handed over to police for further action, adding that the car driver suffered injuries.

The operation, led by senior officer II Hairisyah Wahid with 10 firemen from Labis Fire station, ended at 9.51am.
