Sarawak mulling new law on presiding officers at Native Courts

SIBU: All 45 district officers (DO) and residents will continue acting as Sarawak Native Court magistrates until such time they are no longer empowered by law to perform such roles.

The Native Courts Ordinance 1992 empowers a DO and residents to act as magistrates or presiding officers in the District Native Court and Resident Native Court respectively.
