Ipoh City Council removes unkempt plants along pedestrian walkways

IPOH: All pedestrian walkways in the city will be in good condition, says the Ipoh City Council.

When contacted, a spokesman said the city council would ensure that all the walkways in the city will be properly maintained for the comfort of the public.

The spokesman was responding to a video by comedian Douglas Lim that went viral on July 4, whereby a walkway, believed to be located at Jalan Sultan Idris Shah, was marred by unkempt plants.

In the video, Lim was walking backwards and almost tripped on a plant while speaking about the conditions of the walkway.

On the incident, the spokesman said the city council has taken action by removing some of the plants that had become an obstacle for pedestrians.

“Our landscape department has cut and trimmed the ornamental trees along the walkway.

“Action was taken right after the video was uploaded.

“The city council will ensure all walkways in the city are always in good condition and comfortable for the people,” he added.
