Aset Kayamas hosts retail businesses as prospective tenants for its signature mall
GENTING HIGHLANDS: To serve the needs of about 24,000 residents in the cool atmosphere of the highlands, Aset Kayamas has invited potential business partners to view the ongoing progress of its Antara Resort Suites.
The occasion gave the developer the opportunity to give its prospective business tenants an on-site overview of the AK Antara Signature Mall, which forms the lower three floors of the development.
It also showed the upcoming development plans for the surrounding areas while providing fresh perspectives and supporting details for the current project.
The mall will serve as a commercial hub for the residential community within the neighbourhood and beyond.
Both the practical layout and innovative design of AK Antara Signature Mall offer maximum exposure for all retail shops.
This makes the commercial centre an ideal place for businesses like restaurants, bars, cafes, bistros and more.
Prime retail spot
“Due to its strategic location which is situated beside the only road leading to Genting Highlands, there is no denying that Antara will be a perfect stopover for travellers seeking a unique retail and leisure experience,” said Aset Kayamas executive director Michael Chai.
He then segued to his main point, which is AK Antara Signature Mall is set to bring convenience to the residents and visitors as it is nestled right below the four residential towers.
“The best retail location refers to a high-traffic area where potential customers are known to shop,” he said.

“Taking this into account, we strongly believe that the retail location plays a huge role in this, and hence, the building itself must be able to reflect a sense of stability and confidence in the future.”
The mall will have 40 retail shops, 11 kiosks and a convention hall with an approximate capacity to hold up to 1,200 people.
To provide convenient access to the development, two covered link bridges with escalators are constructed. One of the link bridges is located at Upper Ground 1 – an eight-minute walk that connects the mall directly to Resorts World Genting.
The other is located at the Lower Ground 6 parking lot, which allows visitors to have a comfortable five-minute stroll to Awana Skyway (Chin Swee Station).
Modest retail mix
At the event, Chai also shared that the mall’s retail units are for rent. He also added that his team is close to securing several key prospective tenants, with brands like Haidilao, Mix, Chamber, Lutono, RedBox, Tealive and Bioscor being 90% confirmed with their tenancy.
He explained that unlike most other malls where the anchor tenants are large grocery chains, AK Antara Signature Mall mostly caters to those who travel up to Genting Highlands for short stays.
He said those who purchase the resort suites will use those as their weekend retreat away from the congestion in the Klang Valley.
While actively seeking brands locally and from abroad, Aset Kayamas is in different stages of discussions with retailers at present in hopes of bringing in more tenants to cater to the needs of the visitors.
The developer will support the tenants who are looking to expand their footprint in this area by offering a variety of retail sizes in the mall.
Business owners will be able to locate the perfect space to reach their target market and grow their businesses.
Part of larger design
This whole development marks Antara 1 and encompasses 5.34 acres in its total buildup size with a total lettable size of over 130,000sqft.
The development is expected to open to the public within the fourth quarter of next year.
Chai also disclosed that an adjoining larger retail development called Antara 2 is in the plans for the future that is double the size of Antara 1 and will house a large grocery outlet and other big brands.
The overall Antara Resort Suites development comprises four residential towers with a total of 1,460 units with 10 floors of car parks offering 2,800 slots for visitors.
It is strategically situated beside the only road leading to Genting Highlands and is primed to be a perfect stopover for visitors seeking a unique retail and leisure experience.
Since the easing of travel restrictions, the Antara area has received over 20 million visitors annually and is one of the country’s most popular tourist spots.
