Bus tickets to east coast states for Hari Raya Haji sold out

JOHOR BARU: Bus tickets from here to east coast states in conjunction with Hari Raya Haji celebrations have been sold out.

Larkin Sentral Bus Terminal building manager Mohd Helmi Mohd Affendi said that people have already started buying the bus tickets early this month to go back to their respective hometowns for the festive season.

“Bus tickets to east coast states such as Kelantan, Terengganu and Pahang have been snapped up some three weeks ago.

“However, bus tickets to Klang Valley and northern states are still available,” he said yesterday.

Mohd Helmi added that there would always be huge demand for bus tickets to east coast states for Hari Raya Haji, which falls next Thursday.

“Hari Raya Haji is a major celebration in east coast states. People from those states working here will usually go back to their kampung to celebrate it with their families,” he said.

Mohd Helmi also said that following massive demand for buses to east coast states, bus operators here were requesting approval for additional buses from the Land Public Transport Agency (Apad).

“During normal weeks, there are usually two trips to east coast states daily from Larkin Sentral.

“But due to the festive season, we have increased it to eight trips, where three buses will leave in the morning while another five buses depart during the night,” he said.

Mohd Helmi also said that the Larkin Sentral management expected large crowd of travellers to start leaving for their respective hometowns some three days before Hari Raya Haji.

He added that preemptive measures by the management include having Rela personnel stationed in and around Larkin Sentral to help traffic flow and crowd control.
