Angry police officer in viral video suspended

KUALA LUMPUR: A 35-year-old female police officer who was caught on videos berating other police personnel and civilians has been suspended.

Two investigation papers have also been opened against the officer, for criminal intimidation and for obstructing a public officer, said Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

“The two criminal cases have been referred to the Bukit Aman CID Special Investigation Unit.

“At the same time, the Police Integrity and Standards Compliance Department (JIPS) has also opened six disciplinary investigation papers against the officer,” he told a press conference after witnessing the handing-over ceremony for the posts of Inspector-General of Police (IGP) and Deputy IGP at the Police Training Centre yesterday.

The officer has been suspended pending investigation and possible prosecution, he said.

The officer landed herself in hot water after a video showed her fighting with a rank-and-file policeman.

Another video also emerged allegedly showing her arguing with a member of the public at a car park in Brickfields.
