Fahmi expresses condolences to family of singer Rohana Jalil


KUALA LUMPUR: Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil has expressed his condolences to the family of veteran singer Rohana Jalil, who passed away late Tuesday (June 20) night.

"Innalillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un. I was saddened by the news of the death of the famous veteran singer, Rohana Jalil. May her family members remain strong in facing this difficult time. Al-Fatihah,” he said in a post on Facebook on Wednesday (June 21).

Rohana was receiving treatment for an anastomotic leak at the Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz (HCTM) near here over the past two months and breathed her last at 11.33 pm on Tuesday, aged 68.

Rohana, whose real name is Dara Abdul Jalil was born on Feb 18, 1955, in Kota Tinggi, Johor, and joined the list of Malaysia’s songstress after winning the Bintang RTM competition in 1980.

Throughout her singing career, Rohana recorded over 20 albums, and among her famous song were Rayuanku, Jangan Main Mata and Naluri Cinta.

Her remains will be laid to rest at the USJ21 Muslim Cemetery in Subang Jaya before Zohor prayers on Wednesday. - Bernama
