> Nanyang Siang Pau reported that a notice posted by Hainan Airlines to ground its overweight stewardess has sparked controversy with many people condemning the strict weight management policy.

According to the company, those exceeding the “standard weight” by 10% would be suspended while those who were overweight by between 5% and 10% would be given 30 days to lose the unwanted fat.

It was reported that a simple formula to determine the ideal weight (in kg) of a flight attendant is by using one’s height (in cm) minus 110.
