State polls: BN to get significant number of seats to contest, hints Ahmad Zahid

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said that seat distribution for the six state elections are close to being finalised, hinting that Umno and Barisan Nasional will get a significant number of seats.

"We will get seats that should be more than what we had during the last general election," he said during his winding-up speech at the end of the Umno general assembly on Saturday (June 10).

He however did not elaborate on the matter, but asked party members to switch to "election mode".

Six states – Kelantan, Terengganu, Kedah, Penang, Selangor and Negri Sembilan – are expected to hold their respective state polls in the coming weeks.

The elections would see Barisan working with Pakatan Harapan as they are now partners in the government.

The Negri Sembilan state assembly will dissolve on June 30 while Penang's will dissolve on June 28.
