Senior citizen missing in boat mishap off Sepang

SEPANG: A senior citizen is missing after the boat he was operating sank off the Bagan Lalang beach, here.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operations) Mohamadul Ehsan Mohd Zain said they received a distress call about the incident at 2.27pm on Saturday (June 10).

"We dispatched a fire engine and four personnel to the scene to further investigate.

"Based on our information, a boat which was travelling with eight people on it, was believed to have sunk at around noon," he said when contacted.

He said the boat had left the Sepang Kecil Jetty and was heading to a "kelong" when the incident occurred.

"Seven people were rescued by fishermen, who were nearby, but the boat operator was missing.

"The man has been identified as 67-year-old Ang Tong Poh," he said, adding that personnel were now patrolling the beaches in search of the man.
