Parang-wielding cyclist robs woman in JB


JOHOR BARU: A housewife lost her cash and a mobile phone to a robber on a bicycle who was armed with a parang in Kampung Baru Pandan here.

Johor Baru South OCPD Asst Comm Raub Selamat said the incident occurred along Jalan Palas 1 at Kampung Baru Pandan at around 6.40pm on Friday (June 9).

"The victim, a foreigner, was walking alone on her way back home after shopping when the suspect, who was riding a bicycle and armed with a parang, robbed her," he said on Saturday (June 10).

ACP Raub added that during the robbery, the victim fell to the ground and sustained a minor injury to her left elbow.

He said the victim lodged a report over the incident at 8.52pm the same day.

She lost RM800 in cash and her mobile phone to the suspect.

"The suspect is a local man in his 20s. He is thin and about 165cm tall. During the robbery, the suspect was wearing a black T-shirt and dark-coloured long pants.

"He has fair skin, is clean shaven and has short black hair," said ACP Raub, adding that the case was being investigated under Section 394 of the Penal Code.
