Body of missing elderly boat operator found near Sepang Kechil jetty

SEPANG: The body of the elderly boat operator who went missing after his boat sank here has been found.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operations) Mohamadul Ehsan Mohd Zain said the body of Ang Tong Poh, 67, was found at around 3.30pm.

"We found the body approximately three kilometres from the Sepang Kechil Jetty," he said when contacted on Saturday (June 10).

He added that the body has been handed over to the police.

"The body will be sent to the Banting Hospital for a post-mortem," he said.

It was reported that the senior citizen was missing after the boat he was operating sank off the Bagan Lalang beach, here.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department received a distress call about the incident at 2.27pm on Saturday.

The boat which was travelling with eight people on it, was believed to have sunk at around noon.

The boat had left the Sepang Kecil Jetty and was heading to a "kelong" (An offshore platform built predominantly with wood used for fishing or fish farming) when the incident occurred.

Seven people were rescued by fishermen, who were nearby, but the boat operator was missing.
