Six suspects including 13-year-old arrested for motorcycle theft in Melaka

MELAKA: A 13-year-old boy is among six people who were arrested for alleged involvement in a motorcycle theft syndicate.

Melaka Tengah OCPD Asst Comm Christopher Patit said the suspects are believed to be involved in eight motorcycle thefts in the Melaka Tengah district.

"The girlfriend of one of the suspects was also arrested. All of them are aged between 13 and 40. They were picked up at different locations here," he said on Thursday (June 8).

He said the suspects will be charged on Friday (June 9) with multiple offences relating to theft, robbery and disposing of stolen vehicles.

ACP Christopher said the syndicate would cannibalise the stolen motorcycles and sell the parts.

He said that the teenage suspect is a school dropout and one of the main members of the syndicate.

He added that the first member of the syndicate was arrested on May 7 before the remaining suspects were nabbed.
