Tragic outing: 23-year-old uni student drowns at Kuala Kangsar waterfall


IPOH: A 23-year-old university student drowned while on an outing with friends at the Batu Hampar waterfall in Kuala Kangsar.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department operation centre officer Mohd Faisal Mohd Izham said the victim has been identified as Muhamad Arif Arsyad Md Salleh.

He said the department received a distress call at 11.19am Wednesday (June 7).

“A total of 11 students from University Sultan Azlan Shah had gone to the waterfall.

“The victim had drowned about 20 minutes before the firemen arrived, and he was brought out of the water by his friends” he said.
