University student dies in Kuala Pilah accident


BAHAU: A 21-year-old motorcyclist who was involved in an accident with a car succumbed to his injuries at the Tuanku Ampuan Najihah Hospital in Kuala Pilah near here.

Jempol OCPD Supt Hoo Chang Hook said Alif Haziq Anuar, a student at Universiti Teknologi Mara in Melaka, died this morning (June 6) due to severe abdominal injuries.

"Based on a preliminary probe, the deceased had tried to overtake a car driven by a 22-year-old woman who was about to make a right turn.

"He crashed into the right side of the car and fell on the opposite lane," he said, adding that the accident happened around 2.20pm at KM2 Jalan Bahau-Batu Kikir on Monday (June 5).

Supt Hoo said the deceased sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the hospital.

He urged witnesses to come forward to assist in the probe.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
