Mechanic claims trial to injuring, threatening wife for sex


MELAKA: A 41-year-old mechanic claimed trial at the Ayer Keroh Sessions Court to two counts of allegedly seriously injuring and intimidating his wife for refusing to have sex.

Syed Fakrulrazi Syed Abdul Rahman pleaded not guilty to the charges before Judge Darmafikri Abu Adam on Tuesday (June 6).

He allegedly committed the first offence at 10am on Feb 12 at a house in Taman Tanjung Minyak Perdana, Melaka Tengah by hitting the head and nose of 33-year-old Rabiatul Adawiyah Abu Hassan.

If found guilty of the offence under Section 325 of the Penal Code read together with Section 326A, he faces a maximum seven-year jail term and fine, or twice the maximum jail term.

For the second offence, the accused allegedly threatened to kill his wife at the same place, date and time for refusing to have sexual intercourse.

He was charged under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation, which carries a penalty of up to two years in jail, a fine or both, upon conviction.

Aliff Asraf Anuar Sharuddin prosecuted while the accused was represented by counsel Ishak Mohd Kari.

The counsel told the court that his client was just employed as a mechanic on June 1 with a salary of RM2,000 a month. He also told the court that the accused has four children aged from two to 10 years old while his wife has filed for a divorce.

The court granted bail of RM10,000 with one surety and fixed July 10 as the next mention date.
