‘Malaysia enjoyed progress and growth under King’s guidance’

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia has witnessed remarkable progress and development, both on the domestic and international fronts, under the guidance of Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.

The acting dean of the Diplomatic Corps in Malaysia, Manuel Balaguer Salas, who is the Argentinian Ambassador to Malaysia, said Sultan Abdullah’s reign had always been marked with wisdom, dedication and a deep commitment to the welfare of the Malaysian people.

He said under His Majesty’s leadership, diplomatic ties between Malaysia and nations across the globe had been further strengthened, hence fostering cooperation, understanding and mutual respect.

“We are grateful for your unwavering efforts to promote peace, stability, and prosperity in the region and beyond,” said Salas in his speech on behalf of the diplomatic corps in Malaysia at the investiture ceremony held in conjunction with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s official birthday celebration at Istana Negara here yesterday.

Salas said that under Sultan Abdullah’s reign since January 2019, Malaysia went through various challenging political phases.

“In these years, His Majesty has shown great conviction and resolution to remain faithful to the principles of justice and democracy, always putting the interest of the Malaysian people first,” he said, Bernama reported.

He said there were still other challenges ahead, such as the world economic slowdown, climate change, migrations, cybersecurity, poverty, artificial intelligence and international security.

“On this, the diplomatic community in Malaysia stands ready to work closely with Your Majesty, the Malaysian government and the Malaysian people,” he added.

Before ending his speech, Salas conveyed the diplomatic corps’ wishes of good health, happiness and the fulfilment of all aspirations to Sultan Abdullah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah.
