HSKLU re-gazetted back as a forest reserve

SHAH ALAM: The re-gazetting of the Kuala Langat North Forest Reserve (HSKLU) spanning an area of 536.7ha, which was previously de-gazetted in 2021, was finalised in the state government meeting two weeks ago, says the Mentri Besar.

Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said the issue was considered resolved and the implementation would be carried out by the state Forestry Department.

“The total forest area is still the same as before. Implementation will be done by the department,” he said after officiating the handing-over ceremony of sacrificial animals for Hari Raya Aidiladha at the Shah Alam City Council Convention Centre here yesterday, Bernama reported.

The de-gazetting of HSKLU was announced by state tourism, environment, green technology and Orang Asli affairs committee chairman Hee Loy Sian at the state legislative assembly sitting on Aug 30, 2021, approved under Section 12 of the Selangor Forestry Act (Adoption) Enactment 1985.

Meanwhile, at the ceremony, he said the state government would hand over 700 cows and 1,000 goats starting June 28 to mosques, surau, agencies and institutions to carry out the religious sacrificial rites at the end of the month.
