Man, 71, dies at popular KK hiking spot


KOTA KINABALU: A senior citizen died while hiking at a public park here on Friday (June 2).

Wong En Fatt, 71, was hiking at Taman Tun Fuad Stephens in Bukit Padang when he collapsed at 10.08am.

Lintas Fire and Rescue station chief Agustavia Joe Guasi said they received a distress call informing them that a man had fallen unconscious while going up the hill, a popular hiking spot.

“A team from the Health Ministry arrived and gave initial treatment to the victim,” she said when contacted.

“However, despite their best efforts, the man passed away.

“The Bomba team helped to bring the victim down the hill on a stretcher before handing over the body to the police,” Guasi said, adding that the operation ended at 11.49an.
