Cops nab trio who robbed elderly couple three times in three weeks


IPOH: Police arrested three men who allegedly robbed a elderly couple three times in their home in Taman Ria here.

Ipoh OCPD Comm Yahaya Hassan said the arrests were made at two separate areas in Bercham on Thursday (June 1).

“The suspects, aged 33, 39 and 41 years old, were arrested between 2pm and 2.30pm.

“We also seized several items including the vehicle used by the suspects and stolen goods,” he said in a statement Friday (June 2).

Comm Yahaya said two of the suspects tested positive for methamphetamine

“The will be brought to court for remand today.

“We are still investigating if these suspects are related to other theft and house break-in cases reported around Ipoh,” he said.

On Saturday (May 27), it was reported that an elderly couple in Taman Ria, Bercham, lost approximately RM26,000 after armed burglars hit their home three times in the space of three weeks; May 2, May 11 and May 24.

While pointing a knife the victims, the burglars stole jewellery, cash, binoculars, mobile phones, laptop and a car key, leaving the elderly couple in fear.
