SEPANG: A 39-year-old photographer has been detained for allegedly molesting a nine-year-old boy during an event at a primary school in Salak Tinggi.

Sepang OCPD Asst Comm Wan Kamarul Azran Wan Yusof said the alleged sexual assault took place during a Science Month event at the school in May.

"The victim claimed that during a photo-taking session, the suspect hugged him from behind before touching his private parts several times.

"The victim also claimed that the suspect had touched other students as well," he said in a statement on Tuesday (May 30).

ACP Wan Kamarul Azran said police have recorded the statements of several people, including other pupils, after a police report was lodged.

"We detained the suspect at about 1.30pm on May 26.

"The suspect has no criminal record and has been remanded until Thursday (June 1)," he added.

It is learnt the alleged victim's parents attended meetings with the school management on the incident on May 15 and May 23.

"Following the meetings, the parents lodged the police report," ACP Wan Kamarul Azran said.
