Cops detain two more suspects over Tampoi brawl


JOHOR BARU: Two more suspects have been detained by police in relation to a brawl, footage of which went viral on social media.

Johor Baru North OCPD Asst Comm Balveer Singh said the two suspects were arrested separately here at 1.15pm on Tuesday (May 30) related to the incident that took place in Tampoi.

In a statement, he added that remand will be requested for them on Wednesday (May 31).

ACP Balveer said this brings the number of suspects detained to 13 men and a woman, all locals between the ages of 15 and 36 years old.

"We would like to advise the public from becoming fearful," he said.

The incident was caught on camera and is believed to have happened at about 11.40pm around the Tampoi area on Saturday (May 27).

Earlier, a 28-second video of a group of people hitting a man made rounds on social media.

In the video, the group could be seen pulling the victim's hair, kicking him on the head and using a helmet to hit him.

The case is being investigated under Section 148, Section 365 and Section 385 of the Penal Code.
