IPOH: It was a lively affair as more than 50,000 visitors flocked to the Malaysia Madani Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house at Sunway's Lost World of Tambun.

Visitors were seen queuing and entering the location as early as 6.30pm for the event that started at 8pm Thursday (May 18).

Gracing the event was Perak Ruler Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah and Raja Permaisuri Perak Tuanku Zara Salim.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim arrived together with his wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail in matching pink and purple hue outfits at around 7.45pm.

Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad arrived shortly after.

Visitors at the event were seen enjoying local cuisines such as satay, banana fritters, cendol and vegetarian chicken rice prepared by more than 20 stalls.

For 37-year-old businesswoman Yasmin Mohd Shukri, she came to the open house just to see Anwar.

“Together with my husband and children, we are eager to meet the Prime Minister.

“My seven-year-old daughter was the one who was the most excited. We managed to get a picture of her with him.

“We ate satay and enjoyed some drinks. The food here is all good, we are glad we came,” she added.

For another visitor, who wished to be known as Pauline, she said she enjoyed the performances during the open house.

“I didn’t know some of the performers, but the Hari Raya songs they sang were nice," said the 24-year-old cashier.

“It was quite a big turnout, but I managed to shake hands with the Prime Minister. This is definitely a day to remember for me,” she said.

Among the performers at the event were Datuk Jamal Abdillah, Sufian Suhaimi and actor Nadhir Nasar.
