PETALING JAYA: The fear shown by Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional towards purported statutory declarations (SDs) supporting a change of administration hints at the fragility of the unity government, says Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor.
He said the denial by the coalition showed its concern that this change might become a reality.
"Why are they so afraid? If they didn't deny it, people would think it's just a rumour.
"When you deny (something), as the old saying goes, it could be true," Malay daily Sinar Harian quoted him as saying after he launched the Kedah Perikatan Nasional election machinery at the Gua Chempedak field on Saturday (May 13).
Also present were Perikatan secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin, PAS secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan, Bersatu vice-president Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee and other coalition leaders.
"I don't know how to explain. Will be happy if it happens... and I hope it becomes a reality," Sanusi said when asked if there were attempts to overthrow the government.
Muhammad Sanusi jokingly asked those who doubted the validity of the "numbers" to check with the MPs themselves if it was possible.
"It is not impossible. Don't ask me (about the numbers) because I'm not a Member of Parliament," he said.
