Teen drowns in river near Kampung Terengganu jetty, Teluk Intan


IPOH: A 14-year-old boy was found drowned at Sungai Perak, about 60m from the Kampung Terengganu jetty in Teluk Intan.

Hilir Perak Asst Comm Ahmad Adnan Basri said the victim was found by search and rescue personnel on Saturday (may 13) at about 4.45pm.

ACP Ahmad Adnan said the victim's family had been informed about the matter.

"The victim's father had identified him. A post mortem is being conducted at the Teluk Intan Hospital forensics department to determine the cause of death," he said in a statement.

ACP Ahmad Adnan said the boy had reportedly gone missing on Friday at about 7.30pm.

"His schoolbag, shirt and pants were found near the jetty, where he was believed to have fallen into the river," he said, adding that a search and rescue operation was launched at 9.30pm, which also involved members of the Fire and Rescue Department, Civil Defence Force Department and some locals.
