Second Penang Bridge traffic at standstill after trailer-car collision

GEORGE TOWN: An accident involving a trailer and a car along the Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah Bridge has caused significant traffic congestion here on Friday (May 12).

The accident that occurred along mid-span on the island-bound side caused the tractor unit to separate from its load, blocking a lane along the double-lane bridge.

Based on viral video footage, the tractor unit went over the barricade separating the motorcycle and car lanes.

The car involved in the accident shows severe damage to its rear and right front.

The police and the Fire and Rescue Department have yet to release a statement.
