Kulai cops nab four after bistro brawl

KULAI: Four men have been arrested for allegedly hurting others in Taman Indahpura near here at 3am on Wednesday (May 10).

Kulai OCPD Supt Tok Beng Yeow said police received a report on the incident from a 21-year-old local woman at 10am the same day.

He said according to the woman, she and four friends were having drinks outside a bistro on Jalan Kiambang 12.

“A man approached the group and slapped the woman’s male friend," Supt Tok said in a statement on Thursday (May 11).

He said a woman and 10 men arrived in two cars a few minutes later and attacked the woman’s other friends, inflicting minor injuries on the victims’ heads and limbs.

Supt Tok said a team from the Kulai police Investigation and Operations Division then detained four men, all locals.

“The four suspects, aged between 24 and 28, were apprehended at a food outlet in Jalan Iris 8, in relation to the fighting incident earlier," he said.

Initial investigations found that the suspects have criminal records, he added.

Police believe the incident resulted from a misunderstanding and have remanded the suspects until Sunday (May 14) to help with the probe under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting.
