TELUK INTAN: A total of RM82.5mil has been set aside by the government for development projects and infrastructure upgrading works around Teluk Intan, says Local Government Development Minister Nga Kor Ming.
He said the allocation included a 6km flood mitigation project along Sungai Perak, which is scheduled to begin this year and be fully completed in 2026.
“I expect once the flood mitigation project is completed, the flood issues in the area can be fully addressed,” he said after a visit to the Pasar Besar Teluk Intan here yesterday, Bernama reported.
He said for the upgrading works, RM600,000 has been allocated to repair roofs and provide special parking lots for persons with disabilities at the Medan Selera Glutton Square in Jalan Ah Cheong.
It also involves upgrading facilities at the hawker centre in Jalan Maharani. Another RM800,000 has also been set aside for the Pasar Besar Teluk Intan.
