Last hurrah for Sabah floral decorator

KOTA KINABALU: Floral designer Renn Limun is grateful to have been able to decorate the venue for the Sabah government’s Hari Raya open house one last time before she retires.

The 54-year-old said she would annually join several others to do the floral decorations.

“We made preparations to decorate the hall for two days because the flower arrangements have to go with the theme requested by the organiser,” she told Bernama when met at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) here yesterday.

Renn, who has worked with a private florist for 20 years, plans to return to her hometown, Kampung Lokub in Kiulu, after retiring this month, Bernama reported.“I’m happy to be part of the decoration team for the last time before I call it a day even though I love my job. It is with a heavy heart that I am leaving,” she said.

An SICC maintenance worker, Arshad Saidin, 55, said all the workers had been busy making sure that the various appliances and equipment were in good working order.

“This is my second year here, but this is the first time I was involved in the preparations for the celebration. It is very tiring but after seeing the results of our work ... I am very happy that everything went well,” he said.
