Efforts must be made to upgrade Pasir Salak into full district, says Zahid

PASIR SALAK: Efforts must be made to turn Pasir Salak into a full district, says Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

The Deputy Prime Minister said he hopes that the Pasir Salak Umno division would take a lead in the matter to ensure Pasir Salak is turned into the 13th district in Perak.

Currently, Pasir Salak is a sub-district.

The Umno president hoped division chief Khairul Azwan Harun would negotiate over the process with Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad.

“Negotiate properly with the Mentri Besar, so that he (Saarani) is able to send an application to the Local Government Development Ministry.

“Once the application then reaches me, I will definitely support it when the proposal is brought to the Cabinet,” he said in his speech at the division’s Hari Raya open house at Dataran Pekan Kampung Gajah today. (April 29)

Ahmad Zahid, who is the Bagan Datuk MP, said the 12th district declared in Perak was Bagan Datuk in 2017.

In his speech, Khairul Azwan had also requested allocation for several projects in Pasir Salak, including for the upgrade of the Pasir Salak Historical Complex, and the Pasir Salak circuit.

Ahmad Zahid said several projects including the construction of village roads, a bridge and upgrading of Mara Junior Science College, allocations have been approved.

“For both the complex and the circuit, I will speak to the ministers in-charge,” he added.
