PASIR SALAK: Barisan Nasional must regain power in Pasir Salak, says Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

The Umno president said it was vital for the Pasir Salak parliamentary seat as well as the Kampung Gajah and Sungai Manik state seats fall back into Barisan's hands.

"I am hoping that in GE16 and the next state election, we will seize all three seats back," he said.

He also urged Pasir Salak voters to choose their representatives well to ensure continued development in the constituencies.

Ahmad Zahid said if the Federal and state governments are the same, it is easier for projects to be approved.

In GE15, three-term Pasir Salak MP Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman was dropped as the candidate and was replaced with Pasir Salak Umno chief Khairul Azwan Harun.

However, Khairul lost the seat to Perikatan Nasional's Jamaluddin Yahya.

In Kampung Gajah, the then-incumbent assemblyman Datuk Dr Wan Norashikin Wan Noordin (Umno) also lost to Perikatan's Zafarulazhan Zan.

Datuk Zainol Fadzi Paharudin, who won the Sungai Manik seat in GE14 under a Barisan Nasional ticket but later joined Bersatu. He successfully defended his seat in GE15.
