KUALA PILAH: A 46-year-old man who pleaded guilty five months ago to a charge of causing harm to his wife in a court in Tampin was again produced at the Magistrate’s Court here for a similar offence.
S. Ragubalan pleaded guilty after the charge was read to him before Magistrate Saiful Sayoti.
He was accused of voluntarily causing hurt to his 41-year-old wife by punching her in the face and hitting her head against the floor, which caused her to suffer injuries to her face, forehead and neck.
The accused was charged with committing the offence at a house in Taman Molek in Gemas around 9.15am on April 24.
Ragubalan was charged under Section 323 of the Penal Code and punishable under Section 326A of the same legislation.
Offenders can be jailed for up to a year or fined up to RM2,000, or both, upon conviction.
Deputy public prosecutor Yap Tsu Sheng then told the court that the accused had been charged with a similar offence at the Tampin magistrate’s court last November. “Then, he was sentenced to serve one day in jail and fined RM1,500 after pleading guilty.
“He has now committed the same offence,” he said, adding that the offence was non-bailable.
The court refused bail and fixed May 8 for re-mention.
