Avoid open spaces during thunderstorms

KOTA KINABALU: The public should stay away from open spaces such as football fields when there is thunder and lightning to prevent any untoward incident, says state secretary Datuk Seri Safar Untong.

Safar, who is also the state natural disaster management committee chairman, issued the reminder following the death of a 13-year-old boy who was struck by lightning when playing football in Papar on Tuesday.
