Food truck operator charged with murder


PORT DICKSON: A 40-year-old food truck operator was charged at the Magistrate’s Court here with the murder of a 38-year-old man.

No plea was recorded from Sin Poo Kiong after the charge was read to him before magistrate V. Vanita.

The accused was charged with causing the death of Cheok Teck Meng between 7.30pm and 7.55pm on March 1 this year.

The offence was allegedly committed in front of a food court in Lukut.

Sin was charged with murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

Vanita fixed May 19 for mention and ordered the accused to be remanded at the Temiang prison.

Jiwan Kaur Malkith Singh prosecuted, while V. Segaran appeared for the accused.

On March 1, police received a call from a member of the public at around 7.35pm, claiming that a man had been stabbed outside the food court.

Policemen sent to the scene found the victim in the parking area, unconscious and bleeding profusely.
