Cops looking for individual who set off fireworks from Ipoh apartment balcony


IPOH: The police are looking for an individual who was filmed playing with fireworks on the balcony of an apartment tower in Meru Raya here.

Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Yahaya Hassan said a Twitter user named "Megatz" had on Tuesday (April 18), tagged the police on his post, which showed the 25-second video.

"A police report has been lodged and the matter is being investigated under Section 290 of the Penal Code for public harm and Section 4 of the Minor Offences Act for burning fireworks while causing public harm.

"The police are trying to locate the individual who was seen to be playing with fireworks as recorded in the now viral video," he said in a statement.

"Those with information of the incident can come forward to the police or contact senior investigating officer Asst Supt Fadli Ahmad at 019-250 0019 to assist investigations.

"We would like to advise the people to be mindful, responsible and alert when playing with fireworks in conjunction with the festive season to ensure their own safety as well as the properties of others," he added.
