Missing soldier found dead in Belum Forest


IPOH: The soldier who went missing in the Belum Forest Reserve in Gerik on Friday has been found dead.

Perak police chief Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said the body was found by search and rescue personnel at about 10.15am yesterday.

“The full report is being finalised together with the Malaysian Armed Forces,” he said yesterday.

On Monday, the soldier of the 25th Battalion of the Royal Malay Regiment from Sri Bentong camp in Pahang, went missing.Comm Mohd Yusri said a post-mortem would be conducted at Hospital Gerik. “He is expected to be buried at his hometown in Penaga, Penang,” he added.
