Elderly man falls off bridge in Muar


A search and rescue effort is underway to look for a 77-year-old man who allegedly threw himself off the Maharani Bridge in Muar.

MUAR: A search and rescue effort is underway for a 77-year-old man, who fell off a bridge into a river here.

Muar Fire and Rescue Department operations commander Shahrizal Mokhtar said the operation was launched following a distress call at 6.03am on Tuesday (April 11).

“The man was said to have fallen from the Maharani Bridge," he added.

Thirteen firemen have been sent to search along Sungai Muar for the elderly man.
